Sustainability

We believe that sustainably managed forests can produce important products for people as well as environmental benefits for the planet, in perpetuity. We take our role as stewards of the forests we manage very seriously and are committed to advancing sustainable management practices.

Harvest and Replant

We replant the acres that we harvest. Replanting is not only required by law it is core to the future of our business. Recently harvested areas that are replanted are the foundation of the next generation of our forestland operations. On average we harvest less than 2% annually of the total area that we manage.

That means for every 1,000 acres we manage, about 20 acres are harvested per year. Forest practices require that we replant a harvested unit within two years of harvest, and trees must be “free to grow” within six years.
